TIMING: Series runs from January thru April. Take all 7 classes, or choose the ones that work for you!

SKILLS: Tour the culinary world without ever leaving home! In this series, we will explore kid favorite foods from all around the globe. The seven classes include dishes from more than twice as many countries. Open your child’s mind to something new and exciting each week and expand their culinary repertoire. We realize this is just a small sampling of global cuisine, we hope to explore more countries in the future!

FORMAT: These classes are all hands on. We will make several recipes as a group and enjoy our meal at the end of class. Take home recipes and any leftovers. Sign up for the 7 week series or choose the weeks that work for you. $40/class or all 7 for $265. Age ranges are suggested. If you have an 8 year old with cooking experience and the ability to participate and follow directions, they are welcome to join the 9-12 year old group.

Week 1: Central and South America. We’ll make recipes including rice & beans, quesadillas, tropical fruit smoothies, and queijadinhas: a sweet muffin treat that is popular in Brazil! TIMING: Sunday, January 13, 2019 from 3:30-5:30PM ages 11+. Or, Monday, January 14, 2019 from 4-6PM ages 9-12.

Week 2: Middle East and Turkey. We will make a meze platter filled with homemade hummus, baba ganoush, a yogurt dipping sauce, and falafel. We will toast some pitas to go alongside. And, we will make pide, a kid friendly Turkish flatbread or pizza with toppings. TIMING: Sunday, January 27, 2019 from 3:30-5:30PM ages 11+. Or, Monday, January 28, 2019 from 3:45-5:45PM ages 9-12.

Week 3: Northern Europe. We will be making traditional German smashed potatoes with sausages and maybe even some sauerkraut. We will also make pepparkakor, a delicious cut-out cookie popular in Sweden. TIMING: Sunday, February 10, 2019 from 3:30-5:30PM ages 11+. Or, Monday, February 11, 2019 from 3:45-5:45PM ages 9-12.

Week 4: Japan and Vietnam. We will use our hands to make onigiri - stuffed Japanese rice balls. We will make some Vietnamese pho and Japanese ramen to enjoy too! TIMING: Sunday, February 24, 2019 from 3:30-5:30PM ages 11+. Or, Monday, March 4, 2019 from 3:45-5:45PM ages 9-12.

Week 5: Africa. We’ll make couscous, a traditional Northern African favorite. We will also make plantain chips which are a Nigerian treat. And, we will make bobotie, a dish that is popular with children in South Africa. TIMING: Sunday, March 24, 2019 from 3:30-5:30PM ages 11+. Or, Monday, March 25, 2019 from 3:45-5:45PM ages 9-12.

Week 6: Southern Europe. We will start in Italy and make cacio e pepe, a simple pasta dish on many Italian menus. We will try our hands at a tortilla de patatas, a Spanish omelette with potatoes. And we’ll finish by making some yummy French crepes. TIMING: Sunday, April 7, 2019 from 3:30-5:30PM ages 11+. Or, Monday, April 8, 2019 from 3:45-5:45PM ages 9-12.

Week 7: India and Indonesia. This week we will make khichdi - a rice and lentil dish that is popular in India. We will make sate too: food on a stick with a dipping sauce! And, we’ll make carrot halwa, a sweet Indian treat. TIMING: Sunday, April 28, 2019 from 3:30-5:30PM ages 11+. Or, Monday, April 29, 2019 from 3:45-5:45PM ages 9-12.
